New York Law School Student Associations Honor Mallika Dutt at Annual Spring Banquet
April 22nd, 2010The Asian American Law Students Association (AALSA), the South Asian Law Students Association (SALSA) and the Latin American Law Students Association (LALSA) honored Mallika for her contributions to South Asians in law and the community at their annual Spring Banquet held on April 10th at Jing Fong in New York City. Other honorees included John Liu, New York City Comptroller; Margaret T. Ling of the Asian American Bar Association and judge Ruben Franco of the New York City Civil Court.
Every year, the South Asian, Asian American and Latin American Law Student Associations at New York Law School hold an event to celebrate the diversity and progress of legal professionals in their communities. In addition to the dinner and awards presentation, the evening included performances of modern and classical Indian Fusion by Infin8, and salsa and meringue by Ella Kagan & Francisco McCarthy of NYLS.
Mallika Dutt moderates UN panel on government investment in women’s rights
March 11th, 2010 | Location: New York, NYMallika moderated and participated in an exciting panel at the United Nations titled “Do You See the Opportunity? How Governments Can Successfully Invest in Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality.” This panel was convened by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with HIVOS and others.
Mallika Dutt and WLP on mobilizing the masses using the web
March 8th, 2010 | Location: New York, NYOn March 8, 2010 Mallika was joined by the Women’s Learning Partnership and other leading organizations for a UN sponsored panel titled “Mobilizing for the Future with Mass Media and Participatory Web.” Groups shared and discussed their innovative mobilization strategies using mass media, social networking, and technology capacity building programs. The event was organized by the Women’s Learning Partnership (WLP) and was hosted at the Church Center of the United Nations.
Global South Asia Conference
February 16th, 2010 | Location: New York, NYMallika Dutt delivered the keynote luncheon address at the Second Annual NYU Global South Asia Conference on February 13, 2010 in New York City. This year’s conference focused on South Asia, its borders and how this dynamic interplay of power, economies and culture affects South Asia’s position in a new globalized world.
Innovative Social Change: Women Leading the Way
February 3rd, 2010 | Location: New York, NYMallika Dutt participated in “INNOVATIVE SOCIAL CHANGE: Women Leading the Way,” a panel discussion at Barnard’s Athena Center for Leadership Studies on February 3rd, 2010 in New York. Mallika and Jane Golden, Director of the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, were there to share insights on the question “What does it take to create significant social change?”
